If you are looking for an experienced level 2 electrician in Sydney then look no further than the team at Arrow Power. Our team work within the commercial, industrial and residential spheres, delivering on projects ranging from a small to large scale. We are renowned for delivering high-quality workmanship and honest upfront pricing to all our customers.

A Level 2 electrician has higher qualifications than a regular electrician. Level 2 electricians are also known as Level 2 ASP electricians or authorised/accredited service providers. With these qualifications, level 2’s can reconnect your power by working directly on the high voltage power lines between your house or business and the street power lines.

The main benefit of an electrician with a level 2 qualification is that if needed, they are authorised to do installations, repairs, and maintenance on the overhead and underground services, and consumer mains. This is dangerous work, which is why it is closely monitored by the electrical network authorities and our team undergoes regular training to ensure the highest level of safety.

In New South Wales there are three electrical network authorities – Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy, and Essential Energy. Arrow Power is authorised to work across all three networks – so no matter where you’re located in Sydney – we can help!

The majority of the time, when the existing wiring system deteriorates due to age, you will need a consumer mains to upgrade. Other reasons may include an increase in load consumption – which will require a greater sized cable to carry the load. For example, the mains needs upgrading due to a house extension, a new pool or pool pump, or reverse cycle air- conditioning. Your regular Sydney electrician can also advise you if you need to upgrade the consumer mains.

The consumer mains upgrade will be completed by a level 2 service provider Sydney who will test and disconnect the old wires. They then will replace the old wires with a greater current carrying capacity cable. They will then re-test and commission the works and replace or upgrade any necessary fuses in the switchboard. Once the works are completed your electrician will provide you with a certificate of compliance for electrical works to both you the customer and the network supply authority. This will assure you that the works have been completed to comply with the AS3000 wiring rules and the NSW service regulations.

The supply and installation of a new private power pole in Sydney also needs to be carried out by a Level 2 ASP electrician. Approved poles are either steel (galvanized), timber or concrete. Generally, the cheapest private power pole cost install will be done with a steel pole. In a normal domestic installation of a 100 amps supply, your level 2 electrician will install a 25mm XLPE single-phase or three-phase cable to the point of attachment located at the top of the pole. Our level 2 service provider in Sydney will also install a pole cap along with a hook for any other appropriate fixings according to the type of pole used.

Many of our domestic clients may also choose to have us upgrade and install their wires underground from their new private pole, as this is more aesthetically pleasing. This can also increase the street value of your home or business in Sydney.

Overhead or underground service mains are the cables that run from the network supply to the customer’s house or business. There are several different ways these can occur as shown in the below pictures from the NSW Service and installation rules.

Overhead service mains to the customers home or business

Underground service mains can also come in from the street in a variety of ways to your home or business in Sydney. See the below picture for further details.

Underground service mains to the customer

Overhead service and underground service mains can be either three-phase or single-phase supply, depending on the requirements for the property. They usually range from 100amps for a domestic customer up to 400 amps for an industrial or commercial supply. For example, an industrial warehouse that needs to provide power for motors and large commercial equipment would need a three-phase supply, whereas your typical home may only need a single phase.

Your trusted Level 2 electrician can assist with the upgrade of either overhead or underground services.

The cost of a switchboard upgrade will depend on a number of factors such as the length of the consumer mains, whether you have three-phase or single-phase supply and what fuses will need to be replaced or upgraded. If you have a hazardous switchboard such as asbestos backing, this can also change the cost of the upgrade.

It’s a very exciting time building a new house or commercial property – however, you do need to consider how you are going to get your power on. When connecting your new home or business to power you will need a Level 2 Electrician Sydney to make the new network connection. Whether you are with Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy, or Essential Energy you will need to get permission to connect. This involves you making an application for a new network connection with the network authority. Once you have the permission to connect, your level 2 ASP electrician will come and connect your home and make the power live.

You will also need to get a new energy meter installed as part of the new network connection, which an electrician with level 2 certifications can advise you on.

I rang Arrow Power for advice re moving my Electricity Pole and power line, as I had large trees causing an issue. They quickly emailed me back with a free quote, much cheaper than I expected. The next easy step was a technician coming to my place for onsite expert advice and to organize the work. Which was carried out promptly. Was very happy with the whole experience.
